Tributes are being paid to the people killed in the attacks on London Bridge and Borough Market as details of the victims emerge.

[post_ads]At least seven people have died and 48 others were injured in what police declared was a terrorist incident on Saturday night. King's College Hospital is caring for 14 of the 48 people hospitalized and according to the NHS, 21 people remain in critical condition.

France's foreign minister has announced that a French citizen was among those killed in the London attacks and that another remains missing. Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Sunday that seven other French nationals are in hospital, four of them in serious condition.

Australia's prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has said that up to four Australians were also seriously injured by of the van and knife attacks.

Here's what we know about the first victims to be named.

Kirsty Boden

Police have identified Australian nurse Kirsty Boden as a victim of the attack, releasing a statement from her family praising her work and her effort to help other victims.

The Metropolitan Police issued a statement Tuesday on behalf of her family.

"Kirsty was loved and adored by her family, friends and boyfriend," they said. "She was the most outgoing, kind and generous person who loved to help people. Helping people was what she loved to do in her job as a nurse and in her daily life."
They added: "As she ran towards danger, in an effort to help people on the bridge, Kirsty sadly lost her life."

The family said her actions "demonstrate how selfless, caring and heroic she was, not only on that night, but throughout all of her life." The police did not elaborate on how she was killed.

Australian media reported that Boden was 28 and from Loxton in southern Australia. Another Australian woman, Sara Zelenak, has been reported missing since the attack.

James McMullan

The sister of a missing 32-year-old man says he is believed to have died in the attacks on Saturday night.

Melissa McMullan told Sky News on Monday that police said her brother James McMullan's bank card was found on one of the bodies after the attack, which claimed seven victims.

She said authorities are "unable to formally identify him until the coroner's report begins tomorrow."

[post_ads]McMullan described her brother as an "inspiration". She said he lived in Hackney in east London and was last seen outside a pub just before the van and knife attacks began."While our pain will never diminish, it is important for us all to carry on with our lives in direct opposition to those who wish to destroy us," she said.

"And remember that hatred is the refuge of small-minded individuals and will only breed more. This is not a course we will follow despite our loss."

Christine Archibald

The death of 30-year-old Christine Archibald, from British Columbia in Canada, was confirmed by her family on Sunday. The Archibald family paid tribute to "beautiful, loving daughter and sister" in a statement released by the Canadian government. They said that she worked in a homeless shelter until she moved to Europe to be with her fiancé, Tyler Ferguson.

Speaking to The Associated Press, Ferguson's sister Cassie said that the couple were walking together on the bridge when Archibald was hit by the attackers and died in her fiancé's arms. In a message on Facebook, she said that her brother had "lost the love of his life."
Her family said Archibald "would have had no understanding of the callous cruelty that caused her death."

They asked those who want to honor her to volunteer their time or donate to a homeless shelter and to tell them "Chrissy sent you."

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he is "heartbroken" by the news. "Canada strongly condemns the senseless attack that took place last night in London, United Kingdom, which killed and injured many innocent people," he said in a statement on Sunday. "I am heartbroken that a Canadian is among those killed."
