Surprising Ways You May Be Aging Your Skin

When they say that what you sow is what you reap, they mean much more than just grains. How you treat your body is what will show on your face. And this is not just right now, but even after 10 years. If you don't want to look haggard and still maintain an Aamir Khan look at 50, then these are the most common yet surprising bad habits that you must get rid of ASAP!

Extreme Exercise
Sweating it out for hours can surely keep you in good shape, but if you push your limits too much, you might end up doing more harm to yourself than good. Intense cardio can accelerate signs of aging. Stress caused by intense exercise can break down your skin's collagen and lead to premature wrinkles. Use strength training to keep skin firm as you get older. And don't forget your sunscreen while exercising outdoors.


Sleep Deprivation
Those late night parties and extra 'dedicated' hours at work might leave you looking everything but young. Getting a good night's sleep is important to avoid puffy eyes and lacklustre skin. And may the Almighty help you if you are chronic defaulter! The stress hormone (cortisol) count goes up if you go on day after day without proper rest. This makes your skin lose its smoothness and elasticity, and that results in wrinkles. Make sure you get more than just 'beauty' sleep and use under eye gels to bring back the lost glow.


Too Much Sugar
Other than giving you those love handles, overdosing on sugar will also make your skin dull and wrinkled. Too much sugar in your bloodstream attaches itself to proteins to form harmful advanced glycation end products, which damage collagen and elastin and result in sagging skin.


Too Little Fat
Don't judge us, yet! We do not want you bloated up like a balloon, either. But the truth is that little fat in your diet helps your body absorb antioxidants and vitamins and strengthens the outermost layers of your skin. That sure doesn't mean you start gorging on cheeseburst pizzas or French fries. Choose from healthy fat sources, such as nuts, olive oil, avocados, and fresh fish.
