[post_ads]Consider your energy field to be the area around you that absorbs outside emotions and energetic influences—like if someone is in a good mood or a bad mood, and it ends up affecting you, too, explains Greta Hough, a certified energy medicine practitioner. Hough deals with clearing out that kind of "bad mood energy." Hough notes that according to Shamanic teachings, energy is actually neither “bad” nor “good.” Rather, energy can be light or heavy.

“Energy gets trapped from a variety of circumstances, such as the people inside a space, the comings and goings of the particular space, and even energy that is left behind,” says Hough. “This can be emotional energy accumulated over years, or from particularly intense or traumatic past events."
For some people, spending time or living in homes with heavy, or negative, energy may result in experiencing symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or an overall sense of uneasiness or stuffiness, says Hough. In a work space, telling signs of dense energy include workers not getting along, a sense of confusion among coworkers, or a prolonged unsuccessful time period for a business.

The good news is Hough has some tactics to change your space's energy for the better. “A helpful practice would be to clear your space frequently,” say Hough, explaining that you can take steps daily, weekly, or monthly to help keep a space clear and free from dense or heavy energetic accumulation. “When moving into a new home, always clear the space first, then you can continue to do maintenance as needed."
You can bring in a professional energy practitioner, or DIY—either way the most important part in clearing the energy of your space, says Hough, is to hold a strong positive intention. She recommends moving about a space slowly while holding the intention to release and clear those dense energies and replace them with "love and light energies."
Here are tips and tools from Hough for bringing up the energy in your home or office:

Smudge with sage
White sage or sagebrush are two types of this herb traditionally burned by Native Americans to clear a space, in a practice known as smudging. Burning sage refreshes a space and is believed to have a cleansing effect. When smudging a space, be sure to rest the burning items in a bowl, shell, or other fire-proof container, and to fully extinguish any burning or flame embers once you are finished.

Burn palo santo
In Spanish, palo santo means “holy wood” and the bark of this South American tree is another natural item used in smudging a space. Burning this wood creates a pleasant and smoky smell believed to provide an uplifting benefit that raises vibrations in a room and clears energy.
There are even palo santo sprays available for purchase, which offer the benefit of palo santo smudging for clearing energy, minus the fire.

Keep flowers in the house
Keeping flowers in your home or office provides a space with a source of natural light energy. You can check out these 6 easy-care flowers to grow inside, or opt for cut flowers if you have some growing in your garden. Hough notes that while all flowers contain a beautiful "vibration," red roses are the best.

Use crystals
You can place small quartz crystals in the corners of a room to help collect energy, say Hough. Crystals themselves can collect energy though, and themselves will need to be cleansed periodically.

Mix up the sound
Sound produces vibrations that affect a space and its inhabitants, so music and even our own voices can be an important source of sound healing. Playing certain music, along with rattles, bells, clapping, singing bowls, and other instruments, helps to maintain and clear energy from a space. Do some rearranging
When furniture and other household items remain in a spot for a long time, they can accumulate heavy energy. While it’s hard to find a new spot for your sectional couch or a large dresser, moving around smaller items such as chairs, floor lamps, and the items on your shelves or bookcases can help to clear built up energy.
