You switch up your wardrobe on the regular, so why would you take a different approach to your space? Packing up and moving whenever you start itching for something a little different isn't exactly a realistic option (logistics, people!), so finding easy — and affordable — ways to hit refresh on your home is essential. Armed with the incredibly simple tips and tricks below, decor fatigue doesn't stand a chance.
Declutter
Sounds simple right? Well, it kind of is. Dedicate a few weekends to sweep through your space and weed out any knick-knacks you're no longer loving, old magazines or books you'll never read, the thousands of pieces of Tupperware that are missing lids and just about anything else in your home that you no longer want or need. The extra space you'll recover just by doing this simple task will make your space feel a little bit lighter, maybe even bigger depending on how much you decide to part ways with.
Clean It Up
This is not a drill. Your home is your sanctuary and disorganization can seriously cramp its style. No one wants to spend hours scrubbing the shower or painstakingly polishing the floor, but cleaning is a necessary evil and the key to a calmer, happier home (or so we've been told). If you can't bear the thought of dedicating an entire day to tidying up your space, allot 15 minutes each day to get your home in gear. Adding a bouquet of fresh flowers to your kitchen countertop or dining table is also a great way to freshen up a space fast. Trust us — you'll notice a difference right away.
Rearrange
You don't have to drop bank on new furniture, artwork or decor to breathe new life into your humble abode. It'll take a bit of trial and error, but channeling your inner interior designer and rearranging your furniture and decor can make a room feel brand new. Bring in pieces of artwork and accents from other rooms to spice things up, or simply switch up the lighting. And while you're at it...Take advantage of all that shifting around to tackle those gnarly dust bunnies hiding out under the couch.
Upgrade Your Essentials
Take inventory of the furnishings and accents you already have and determine which ones could benefit from an upgrade. Throw pillows, blankets and rugs are subtle details that can totally transform a room without having to throw down serious cash. Swapping out too-small or too-large pieces can also have a major impact on your space, as will adding more, shall we say, “adult" pieces to your repertoire.
Decorate with the Seasons
And no we're not talking Christmas and Halloween. Every three months swap up your throw pillows, add seasonal accents and switch up your signature scents to make your space feel brand new. Opt for bright colors during the summer months, warm, dramatic tones for fall and cool pastels and shades of gray for winter.
