"I'd love a homemade card that showed that
some love and care went into its creation—full pictures, colored with
crayons, and some loving words about me—instead of a piece of paper with
pencil scribbles and no personalization that took 60 seconds to pull
together."

"I have always wanted and hope to one day receive a nice family photo
in which both of my children are looking and smiling at the camera. Any
mom of strong-willed and silly small children knows that's easier said
than done, particularly if one of your children has special needs. It'll
happen one day. Bonus points if they put it on a large canvas for me."
"I have four grown kids and I've never gotten a mother's ring! What is up with that?"

"Every year I tell my husband that I'd like
to have Mother's Day brunch at my favorite restaurant, which is on a
historic property near us, overlooking the lake. Every year he forgets
until it's too late and they're booked. We usually go for Father's Day
instead, which is nice because it's peony season and they have an
amazing garden. (Learn how to grow your own medicinal garden with these tips from Prevention Premium.) At this point it's kind of like a running joke. But seriously, how hard is it to set yourself a calendar reminder?”

"I'd love a Little Free Library—it’s a mini lending and borrowing book box—that I could set up in the community."
—Kimberley Moran, Hampden, ME
"Spa day. No kids. A massage, a haircut, a pedicure—all the things I have no time or opportunity to do with the kids around."
"I have always wanted piano lessons. My kids are so talented and I want to share music with them."
—Bernadette Lionetta, Andover, MA
"A day to sleep in, with only the noise in the house being any noise that I create!" (Get your best sleep yet with these helpful tips.)
"I have always wanted a birthstone necklace, and I tell my husband
that every year. But I usually get adorable handmade gifts from my boys,
so I'm not sad."
"A day off by myself, without any gifts or cards or celebration."

"I've always wanted a picture of all of my children and
grandchildren on a happy occasion. This would include my daughter that I
lost to adoption 39 years ago. She has a 1-year-old that I've never
seen. I hope and pray that someday this may happen."

"The gift I really want is one I'll never be able to receive: A
guarantee that our daughter, born at 23 weeks and 1 pound 7 ounces, will
live a long and healthy life. She's now 5 and doing really well, but we
lost her twin brother and she had a terrifying start with a 128-day
NICU stay. The only thing I really ever want for Mother's Day is to
celebrate her survival and health and our family's love for this mighty
child!"
