How To Make The Most Of Your Weekends

The exhilaration of a weekend begins on a Sunday... the previous Sunday, that is! Most of us start thinking about the following weekend from the preceding Sunday night itself, after all our weekends are way too precious.

We slog the entire week with just one thought in mind - getting to the weekend and doing something fun. However, sometimes plans don’t work out, friends’ ditch us, an emergency comes up or the worse still - you cannot decide what to do.

Not anymore, because, tell you exactly how you can make the most of your weekends. Read on.

Plan in Advance
Decide what you want to do on the weekend during the week to make the most of your weekend. Jot down options because some plans like a short vacation, traveling, trekking, etc., need extensive planning. This doesn't mean that there is no room for spontaneity, of course! But, one tends to end up doing nothing when there is no prior planning involved.

Go Outdoors
Just go outdoors - period! Go for a walk, jog, run, cycle, hike - anything, but just get some fresh air. It’s amazing what a little bit of outdoor activity and exercise can do to your mind. The experience will leave you energized and completely refreshed for the otherwise dull Monday mornings. You never know, this can actually be the much required breather you were looking out for.

Catch-up with Friends
Catching-up with old friends is a sure shot way to make the most of your weekend. You know you are going to have a good time, but you probably don’t end up doing that often is because you are too lazy to make plans before. It’s also good in a way that if you are short of weekend plans, once you meet your friends, you’re likely to end up doing something worthwhile.

Pamper Yourself
It’s good to indulge in various kinds of weekend activities, but don’t overdo it. You need to devote a little ‘me time’ to yourself. After all, rushing around and meeting people can be tiring. You can pamper yourself with a spa appointment, body massage, or with a pedicure session. Or, you can read a book, listen to music and just chill out. Simple!

Find a New Hobby
Getting a new hobby is helpful in more ways than one way. Let us explain. Apart from learning something completely new, it will also break the monotony of your life. If you happen to join a club, they might have your next 2-4 coming weekends sorted, in the process you’ll go out, meet new people and will therefore end up making more friends. Alternatively, your new hobby can be something that you like doing and that can be the ‘time out’ that you need for your weekend.

Avoid Too Much Alcohol
We often enjoy a drink but, the temptation when you reach Friday night is often to have too many. There is nothing wrong in indulgence once in a while, but if you overdo this, you’ll be nursing a hangover the following day. The day will simply pass by. So, while it’s good to have a little alcohol to unwind, don’t let it rule out your entire weekend.

Therapeutic Activities
Due to your daily fixed routine, life becomes a rut. This hampers our creativity and destroys our work productivity, which is why it’s important to indulge in therapeutic activities. However, that differs from person-to-person. The key is to identify the activity that relaxes your mind, body and soul. It can be anything - ranging from painting your wall to playing a sport, cooking to writing.

Your weekend plans need not be always exotic. Try out these simple exercises and make your weekend fab from drab!
