While we saw a lot of celebs sporting leather this summer, the trend doesn't seem to be going anywhere. In fact, we recently sat down with actress and Piperlime guest editor Rachel Bilson
to find out exactly what her fall-to-winter fashion must-have is. Her
answer: Leather shorts. "If you haven't picked up a pair yet, I suggest
you do so because they're huge for this season and will end up being
your go-to bottoms," she said.
Frankly, we're all about this trend, since it offers up an
alternative to pants or a skirt—and let's face it, who doesn't love
options when it comes to putting an outfit together?
Our favorite way to wear them: paired with a tuxedo jacket, tee, and
close-toed classic black pumps. We also love the contrast of a feminine
blouse or dainty jewelry worn with these rocker shorts. If your leather
(or faux leather) shorts are high-waisted, wear them with a cropped
sweater and low-rise booties. Also, since leather shorts tend to be
super-fitted, opt for a loose top either tucked in or out, depending on
where it hits on your waist. If the top is too long, you won't see much
of the shorts, so in that case tuck that baby in. And skip tights if
it's not too cold out, but if it gets chilly, slip on contrasting knit
tights, like a heather gray pair, to keep your legs warm.
