Lalena Luba, mom of two and VP, Global Public Relations at Kate Spade New York, knows all about dressing for the job. Here she shares some go-to looks.
What she wears for a meeting with a new manager...
She pairs a statement-making dress and earrings with approachable
flats when greeting a new colleague. "I’m on the taller side so I find
that wearing flats with a dress is a nice way to not overwhelm a new
manager or colleague," she explains. "I also enjoy being comfortable and
find I’m able to really focus when I am nimble on my feet. I love the
balance of a calf length dress with a flat shoe—it’s a nice proportion
that is unexpected yet chic in a slightly more casual way."

What she wears for a summer Friday...
A versatile chambray jumpsuit is her secret weapon for casual days.
“It’s easy to move in but flattering on many shapes. You can dress it up
with heels, add a jacket and boots in the colder months or wear a
sandal as I do here if you will be walking from appointment to
appointment. I love a scarf tied this way with denim, in particular."

What she wears for a big presentation...
For Lalena, fashion is all about finding a balance.“The studs on the
suede jacket and skirt have a harder edge, so they go nicely with the
frill of the flutter-sleeve top,” she says of the mix-and-match
separates she relies on for major meetings. "Swipe on a strong lip and
killer heels and you will get that budget approved!"

What she wears for a post-work event...
For a night out on the town, a medium length floral dress and strappy
wedges is a comfy yet flattering pair. "I have a formula: swap lower
heel or flat shoes for heels, switch from a handbag to a clutch and put
on a brighter lipstick or a more intense eye. This transition takes five
minutes or less if you keep a spare pair of heels, a clutch and a
lipstick or eye shadow set near your desk."
